I started off with a plan to tell some stories about my neighborhood on Harbour Island, but the resulting story was much larger than a tale about my surrounding streets. I didn't grow up here. I'm from Tupelo, Mississippi, birthplace of Elvis Presley. So I didn't really have an appreciation for the history in New England or the namesake of my town, Narragansett. Now I have a profound respect for the people that came before us. I think the first time I kayaked in the pond and stumbled into a patch of seagrass, I instantly became infatuated with this place. I discovered a book titled, Quiet Waters -- by Prentice Stout. That book was for sure a passion project that fueled my own passion project for five years.  Hence, the final sentiment in my movie gives a huge shout out to the late Mr. Stout in a Quiet way. The movie is one hour and forty minutes long and barely scratches the surface on the history and intrigue of this pond. I really hope this film helps people appreciate the past, present, and future of the pond. I hope to inspire a connection in the name Narragansett with the people of the small points. I also hope this film makes people think, appreciate this gift, and understand the importance of stewardship.
